Vermont State Police are investigating a school bus accident in Newbury.
Twenty-nine elementary and high school students were on the bus Monday morning when it rolled partly onto its side. Four were taken to Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, New Hampshire, for medical evaluation of minor injuries, according to a news release.
Police say William Jones was driving the bus on Moore Hill Road when he steered to the side of the road to allow a car traveling in the other direction to pass.
When the tires of the bus went onto the shoulder, the edge of the road began to give way, police say. Jones reported he could not steer the bus back onto the road, and the bus rolled toward the passenger side. Some trees stopped it from rolling all the way onto its side, according to police.
All 29 students, who attend Newbury Elementary School and Oxbow High School, got off the bus on their own.
