BURLINGTON — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating two suspects still at large in the beating of two men in the Old North End last week that put one in the hospital for several days.

Officers, responding around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday to several reports of an assault at a house near the intersection of Cedar and Rose streets, found two men, ages 44 and 46, with severe injuries. The men said there had been three assailants involved in the attack.

After receiving a description of the suspects, police found one man — Mnyonge George, 29, of Burlington — and arrested him on suspicion of aggravated assault, according to a Police Department press release. As George spoke with police, witnesses identified him as having been involved in the assault.

George told police that the other men, who are still being sought, were known by the names of “Young Buck” and “Sisqo.” George was released the next day with orders not to make contact with the victims.

Citing witness and victims’ accounts, police said one of the men who was injured was on the Cedar Street porch laughing with his daughter when a person unknown to them approached and began laughing in what was described as a mocking manner.

The victims asked the man to leave, which led to an argument that quickly escalated into a fight. The other suspects joined in the fracas, with one of them breaking a bottle over one man’s head while the other two assaulted him as he lay on the ground unconscious. The three suspects then turned on the second victim and assaulted him with a stick or bat.

The suspect who was alleged to be laughing mockingly was later identified as George, who told police the victim had made a racist remark while George was walking by the house. George then said the victims began assaulting him and his friends with a bat.

“Young Buck” was described by witnesses the night of the assault as a tall black man without a shirt in his late teens or 20s. “Sisqo” was described as a black man in his 20s or 30s and was wearing a sweatshirt with white stripes down the arms.

“Although this was a violent assault, we do not believe there is currently a wider threat to public safety,” said Deputy Chief Jon Murad.

The two suspects being sought are both black men. “Young Buck” was shirtless on the night of the incident and is estimated to be in his late teens or 20s. “Sisqo” who was wearing a sweatshirt with white stripes on the arms, is estimated to be in his late 20s or 30s.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Burlington police.
