A 38-year-old Winooski man is facing additional charges after police say he was involved in a second shooting last week on Interstate 89.
Jason Dion is being held without bail and awaiting an arraignment date on charges of attempted murder and reckless endangerment after police say he was involved in a second shooting on Interstate-89 last week.
Dion had already been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, gross negligent operation of a motor vehicle and attempting to elude arrest in connection with an incident between Milton and St. Albans.
In that case, police say Dion shot at Tristan Cameron, 22 of St. Albans, after Cameron showed him a “hand gesture” as Dion passed him in the right-hand lane after swerving in and out of traffic.
At the time, State Police spokesperson Adam Silverman told VTDigger that investigators were looking into whether other shots had been fired. They then found that a second motorist, Barbara Sawyer, 66, of St. Albans had been shot at before the incident with Cameron.
Sawyer was driving northbound near the Milton exit when a vehicle matching the description of Dion’s silver 2013 Dodge Dart passed her in the left lane and a shot was fired into the rear driver-side door of her car.

Detective Trooper James Vooris said the investigation is still ongoing and police are continuing to search for other victims.
“We do have reason to believe there were other shots fired,” Vooris said. “We have spoken with witnesses who said they heard other shots fired on the interstate that day and a car that matches the description of Mr. Dion’s.”
Dion has been arraigned on the original charges but awaits a court date on the second batch. The Franklin Criminal Division Superior Court is awaiting a doctor’s note for Dion before setting a hearing date because police said Dion had a “medical episode” shortly after last week’s arrest.
Dion is being held at the Northwest State Correctional Facility.
