SHREWSBURY — Vermont State Police say they are continuing to investigate the death of a Shrewsbury woman last week at her home.

An autopsy was conducted on the body of Sara Reynolds, 32, last week at the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington.

State Police Maj. Glenn Hall, commander of the state police criminal division, said Monday that he is awaiting the official cause and manner of Reynolds’ death from the medical examiner. No death certificate has yet been filed, according to state officials.

Reynolds’ death is under investigation by state police and the Rutland County State’s Attorneys Office.

Vermont State Police said they were called to her home at 9675 Cold River Road in Shrewsbury around 1:55 a.m. Thursday.

Her boyfriend, Travis Bailey, 28, who lived with her, called 911 from a neighbor’s home. Bailey reported that Reynolds had killed herself in their residence, according to police.

Hours earlier, at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said, Reynolds had called 911 reporting that Bailey had left their home and may be suicidal.

As troopers were responding the residence, police said, Reynolds called back and said that Bailey had returned and everything was fine.

Troopers continued to the scene and met with Reynolds and Bailey separately, according to police, and they both “indicated that there were no issues and that it was just a misunderstanding.”

Detectives and crime scene investigators spent Thursday at the Cold River Road home probing Reynolds’ death.

Police have not released any additional information since an initial release Thursday afternoon.
